Ansford – Global Citizens
Year 7 impressed the Chair of Governors, Parent Parliament trustee and Senior Prefects at Ansford Academy when they spoke to persuade them to support a global charity of their choice. Students had used all that they had learnt in their Global Citizens theme to research, campaign and write speeches which they delivered to their theme groups. The best were voted for and four groups went through to the judging panel. The charities of choice included Water Aid, Oxfam and the Alzheimer’s Society.
All were superb and deserving of the £50 investment (gifted by the Parent Parliament) to get their campaign ideas off the ground. After much consideration, the winners were 7Y1 – Megan Knapp, Florence Turner and Melissa Marsh who spoke brilliantly about the life changing work which Oxfam does across the world.
It was incredible to see our Year 7’s making a difference and showing their fantastic oracy skills – well done to all of the year group as everyone took part and made their views heard.
The next Year 7 theme is entitled ‘Who has the Power?’. Look out for the mission which is a medieval banquet or the ‘Big Feast!!’
